Lava beds and Cinder cones

The lava beds had some really amazing plants growing on them - like this cactus. The hills in the distance are old cinder cones apparently. It was a brilliant place!

Wow, I love the cactus in this shot...really cool. This shot looks like it could have been taken in some prehistoric world.

Did you use a fill flash?

Thanks for your positive comments! Greg, no I didn't use a fill in flash, the clouds were thick but patchy and they just opened up in the right place for the sun to illuminate the cactus.
